What standards must be met?

For that reason, we recommend looking into the specifics for your area to ensure you’re meeting all the laws. Yet there are a number of things you can expect as standard:
- Any water deeper than 30cm is required to be surrounded by a safety barrier – including inflatables
- Fencing needs to be at least 1.2m high, and not accessible by climbing over objects. Pot plants, eskies, pumps and chairs must be moved away from the fence.
- Gates must be self-closing and self-latching, and it’s illegal to keep the propped open.
